Ishai Zeldner lost his life to brain cancer on June 17, 2018.
He developed his love of Israel fresh out of college in his early 20's after leaving his hometown of Buffalo, New York. He decided to pursue adventure by living on Kibbutz Beit HaShita in Israel which he called home and filled with the people he called family. The kibbutz specialized in the production of several agricultural products, including fish, cattle, cotton, melon grapefruit, olives, and...honey! On the kibbutz he learned beekeeping from the veteran beekeeper Yusuf Gidron . This relationship helped forge his future path first as a commercial beekeeper in Northern California motivating him to study beekeeping at the University of California at Davis. While living in Winters, California he decided to bottle his own honey and formed a company called Moon Shine Trading Company specializing in pure varietal honey and fruit spreads. Over 35 years later, Ishai’s company has expanded and is now called Z Specialty Food.
Ishai leaves his wife Amina Harris and children Shoshana, Joshua and daughter-in law Rowan.
His dream was to buy an electric bike in Israel. We hope you can help us achieve his goal. Thank you so much!
