Dear Family and Friends,
As most of you know, I am becoming a bar mitzvah on May 12, 2016. I cannot believe it is so close and I am very excited for this special day in my life!
I always knew that I wanted my mitzvah project to have the State of Israel as the main focus. I follow many Israel-related pages on Instagram and always keep up on the news when it comes to Israel. In light of all of the horrific terrorism in Israel and knowing the need for emergency services there, I chose to raise money for the American Friends of Magen David Adom. I am participating in a program called the "Red Bag of Courage." Basically, I plan to raise funds needed to stock an Israeli paramedic's bag with bandages, oxygen masks, syringes, medical equipment and medicine.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the organization, Magen David Odom (MDA) is Israel's ambulance, blood-services and disaster relief organization, serving as emergency medical first responders for the State's more than 8 million people. MDA is the only organization mandated by the Israeli government to serve in this role, BUT IT IS NOT A GOVERNMENT AGENCY, SO IT RELIES UPON PEOPLE LIKE US FOR FUNDING. The American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA) is the largest supporter of MDA worldwide and I am so proud to be raising funds for them!
The AFMDA website has many videos which show exactly how important this cause is and how, without proper funding, the MDA organization just cannot function. Sadly, the Jewish people of Israel are always under attack. The victims need us. Without these life-saving paramedics, the citizens of Israel cannot survive the constant emergencies so common to the State of Israel.
Thank you for visiting my page. Any donation, big or small, will help the MDA to save lives in Israel! I greatly appreciate you all for reading my page and helping me with my mitzvah project. I am happy to be participating in this worthy fundraising cause!
